PREVIOUS RACING HISTORY
In 2012, plans to debut in NASCAR Nationwide Series with limited schedule in addition to the full NASCAR K&N Pro Series East schedule for Pastrana Racing. Also planned to run in the Grand-Am Rolex Series season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona for AF-Waltrip Racing. In 2011, made one K&N Pro Series West start for owner Bill McAnally, qualified 10th and finished 25th after a late-race accident. Made three K&N East starts for Pastrana Racing, was running at finish of all three with best start of 19th and best finish of 22nd, at Iowa and New Hampshire. From 2005-10 competed in Rally America, winning four consecutive championships sandwiched around a fourth-place finish in his rookie season and third place in his last. Also competed in a handful of World Rally Championship events from 2007-09. From 1999-2011 competed in a variety of X Games events, mostly on two wheels, but won two of his 11 total gold medals in Rally Racing, in 2006 and 2008. From 2003-11 competed in six editions of the international Race of Champions, including one year when he raced with a broken leg suffered in a motorcycle exhibition jump at the same event. Was the sole U.S. representative in the 2006 Race of Champions, due to injuries to Jimmie Johnson and Scott Speed, and advanced to the two-man Nation's Cup final by racing all the rounds himself, before losing to the Finnish team.
NOTEWORTHY
Suffered a broken right foot and ankle after unsuccessful attempts in Best Trick competition of 2011 X Games, precluding him from his planned NASCAR Nationwide Series debut at Lucas Oil Raceway. Despite injuries, he competed three days later in X Games Rally Racing in a car equipped with hand controls, in which he won his qualifying event and finished fourth in the final after an accident on the last lap. Calls recovery from that injury the most difficult since a severe pelvic and spinal injury suffered in a freestyle motocross accident at age 14. In 1998, at age 14, won motorcycle World Freestyle Championship. Produces the "Nitro Circus," a live show, an MTV television show and an action movie featuring a variety of off-beat motorized stunts. In 2007 performed a well-choreographed stunt in which he jumped from a plane without a parachute before joining another jumper, and executing a tandem landing. In 2012, performed a world-record, ramp-to-ramp car jump of 269 feet, onto a barge in the Long Beach, Calif., harbor. Has worked through at least 30 significant injuries or procedures during his career, including 15 knee surgeries.
